About Helen

Helen is delighted to be acting as the Chaperone for the UK delegation to the Girls’ World Forum.  Helen has a keen interest in development issues, and is looking forward to meeting young members of WAGGGS from around the world.

Helen is a Brownie and Guide Leader in Greater London Kent County.  She is the County International Adviser and established her County’s Senior Section Service Project to Namibia in 2007, which is now in it’s fourth phase.  Helen is keen to encourage members of Girlguiding UK to take part in international opportunities as she believes these are developmental for all involved.  She has travelled abroad with Guiding on various projects, including leading a trip to a Jamboree in Finland, and completing her Queen’s Guide Award expedition in West Africa.  Helen is also a Prospective Trainer, which involves delivering training on a wide variety of topics, supervised by a Tutor.  She enjoys delivering training to different groups .

Helen’s day job is with the national charity Maternity Action, which provides an information and advice service for pregnant women and new mothers, as well as delivering training for midwives in working with refugees and asylum seekers and other groups of vulnerable migrant women.

Helen also runs a poetry website called Sublime Rhyme.
